What We Can Learn From Chinese New Year

2024 is the year of the Wood Dragon.

In Chinese Medicine, wood is related to many things, including:

🐥 wood’s season is spring
🦚 wood’s color is blue-green
🍋 It’s taste is sour
😡 The emotion is anger/frustration
🌬️ The element is wind
👁️ 💪 It has connections to the eyes and tendons
🗣️ its sound is shouting

In Chinese Medicine, Wood is closely related to the Liver. The Liver is in charge of “dredging and dispersing”. This means, it shunts purified blood through the body. It creates a free flow in emotions such as frustration from being “stuck” in life. At the basis of health, is good circulation in all body systems. The Liver is an essential part of this process.

In the Spring, life becomes new and refreshed. It is an opportunity to dig into new opportunities and discover new beginnings.

Frustration in small amounts is actually healthy – it’s how a sprout has the energy to burst out of the seed. It’s how the chick has the motivation to crack the shell of an egg.

This small burst of “oomph” propels us towards our goals. In a balanced way. It’s not too much energy, nor too little.

May we all learn from the energy of spring and the year of the Wood Dragon, to propel toward our goals and desires in a healthy way. May those who have felt stuck this past year, find a way to burst out of the egg toward their passions. May this create free flow, and a year of sprouting health🥚

I hope for new beginnings and a prosperous year ahead for all of you.
